تمكن حوالي ٦٠ طفلاً و طفلة بين الخامسة والخامسة عشر قاموا برفقة حوالي ١٥ مربية من رعية صفد البطيخ والعباسية بتمضية نهار برفقة جنود حفظ السلام الإيطاليين في اليونيفيل في قيادة القطاع الغربي بمناسبة عيد الميلاد المجيد.
كانت الزيارة فرصة تعرف من خلالها الأطفال على النشاطات التي تقوم بها الكتيبة الإيطالية في اليونيفيل لدعم الشعب اللبناني على المستوى الأمني والتنمية الإجتماعية
وكما العادة تكلل عمل الكتيبة الإيطالية مع السلطات المحلية بتناغم حيث تدرس حاجات السكان و تنجز مشاريع للتنمية بهدف تحسين ظروف الحياة في القرى بالإضافة إلى تدعيم الأمن عن طريق دعم القوات المسلحة اللبنانية.
كما يردد دائماً العميد رودولفو سغانغا قائد القطاع الغربي في اليونيفيل المبداء التالي لجنود حفظ السلام التابعين له :اليونيفيل هي مع السكان المحليين ، من أجل السكان المحليين و بين السكان المحليين .
About 60 children aged 5 to 15 years, accompanied by 15 educators from the parishes of SAFAD AL BATTIKH AND ABBASSYIAH spent a morning with the UNIFIL Italian Peacekeepers at the West Sector Command for the traditional exchange of Christmas greetings.
The event allowed the children to share some moments with the Italian soldiers of the UNIFIL Contingent, allowing them to discover the activities and the commitment of the Italian contingent and UNIFIL to support the Lebanese population in terms of security and social development.
The Contingent and the Local Authorities have always worked in synergy trying to understand the needs of the community, following up development projects, to improve the living conditions of the local Municipalities and contributing to the security of the country by supporting the work of the Security Forces.
As repeatedly mentioned by General Rodolfo Sganga, Commander of the SW, one of the key concepts that guide the work of his peacekeepers is: UNIFIL is with the population, for the population, among the population.
